2026 2nd Smart Energy and Smart Grid Academic Conference (SESG 2026) Successfully Held

On June 13, 2026, the 2026 2nd Smart Energy and Smart Grid Academic Conference (SESG 2026) was grandly held at the Qingdao Campus of Shandong University of Science and Technology. The conference was jointly hosted by Shandong University of Science and Technology and Nanyang Institute of Technology, and organized by the School of Electrical Engineering and Automation, Shandong University of Science and Technology and the School of Intelligent Manufacturing, Nanyang Institute of Technology, with support from the Shandong Energy Storage Society, the Shandong Electric Engineering Society, and South China University of Technology.

The conference was chaired by Zhendong Sun from Shandong University of Science and Technology. More than 180 experts, scholars, researchers, and student representatives from universities, research institutes, and enterprises in China and abroad gathered to engage in in-depth exchanges on the frontier technologies and development trends in the fields of smart energy and smart grids.



Opening Ceremony: Grand and Warm

At the beginning of the conference, Zhaoliang Shen, Party Secretary of the School of Electrical Engineering and Automation, Shandong University of Science and Technology, delivered a welcome speech. He extended a warm welcome to all guests and noted that smart energy and smart grids are key directions for energy technology innovation. He stated that the school has long been deeply engaged in the fields of electrical engineering and control science, and expressed hope that the conference would promote academic exchange and the deep integration of industry, academia, and research, while wishing the conference great success.

Each speaker shared the latest research achievements and engineering practices around current hot topics in smart energy and smart grids, creating a strong academic atmosphere on site.



Oral Presentations: Young Scholars Shine

In the afternoon, the conference moved on to the oral presentation session. Young scholars from Shandong University of Science and Technology, Shandong University, Qingdao University of Science and Technology, Charles Darwin University, and other institutions delivered excellent presentations on topics including wind turbine bearing fault diagnosis, transformer DGA fault diagnosis, energy management in electro-hydrogen coupled microgrids, and defect detection in high-voltage cable accessories. Their presentations were cutting-edge and in-depth, fully demonstrating the innovation and vitality of young researchers in this field.


Awards Ceremony: Recognition of Excellence

An awards ceremony was also held during the conference. Feng Zhou, Conference Chair and Professor at Shandong University of Science and Technology, presented the Best Paper Award and Best Oral Presentation Award on behalf of the organizing committee, recognizing the recipients for their outstanding academic achievements and performance.
